RAR File Open Knife is a program used to compress and decompress files in RAR format faster. Tests performed show that this application is between 2% and 11% faster than WinRAR or 7-Zip. In addition WinRAR is not a free application while Open Knife is, as is 7-Zip (which in addition to RAR supports most popular formats).
RAR File Open Knife integrates with Windows context menus, allowing you to right-click on a RAR to access the decompression options that this application has, or right-click on a file or folder to proceed To compress them. Once the application is open, you can drag (by drag 'n' drop) more elements to the RAR to be generated.
It is possible to assign a default folder in which to decompress all RARs, or define a pattern so that subfolders whose names follow some criteria are created. It can password protect compressed files and open any RAR with password, if it is known which is the same.
The interface is simple, and does not present many options that does have WinRAR, but are rarely used; But what we must emphasize is that the process is faster, made very appreciable when trying to decompress large files composed of several RAR (for example films) and you do not have a processor fast enough.
RAR File Open Knife 3.50 is the latest version, updated in October 2011, of this alternative WinRAR software that can be downloaded free to install on any edition of the Windows operating system.
