Facebook has updated its official application for Windows 8 and is now compatible with Windows 8.1. It is an alternative to the traditional use of this social network from a web browser, but with a very similar design and adapted to the style characteristic of Modern UI.
The interface does not show any big changes with respect to the web version, showing in the central part the contents shared by the friends, to the right the list of contacts (highlighting those that are connected and available for chat), while to the left Several menus are located on the screen. At the top right the icons corresponding to Contacts (friend requests, friend searches, etc.), Messages and Notifications are maintained.
The main novelty of the use of Facebook in computers, notebooks, netbooks or tablets with Windows 8.1 is the use of the touch screens in the equipment that have them, achieving better navigability (as if it were the edition for mobile phones but with a Larger screen), with its highlights and better visible.
Another advantage of using this program has to do with the possibility of chatting with friends or seeing notifications while you are browsing or while you are in another application. The Snap View feature allows you to split the screen into two parts and always have Facebook visible and watch live updates and notifications received when a friend likes "Like" or leave a comment in a publication or in a photo.
There are several common features present in this desktop application, whether to write new posts, upload photos, enter the news feed, create photo albums, change profile or cover photo, tag, and so on.
This last version (188.8.131.52) allows to disable the chat, also open the photos in an optimal resolution when double clicked on it, and some more details that improve the stability of the application. It is expected that in a future edition will be available in Spanish, as it is currently only in English.
