VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is a program for remote access from a computer to another that is distant, through the Internet or an Intranet, being both of different platforms.
From the client PC it is possible to have control of the server PC, being able to see and work as if it were in the same equipment, controlling the movements of the mouse and using the keyboard. The utilities of this tool are diverse, either to work on another computer to repair it, to give help and support to third parties, and several other reasons that can justify the installation and use of this tool.
This application has the advantage of being multiplatform, but in terms of ease and the number of functions available is in inferiority of conditions with respect to other similar software, as it is the case of Logmein Hamachi or Teamviewer. This is fundamentally due to the limitations of this Free edition with respect to Personal or Enterprise versions, which add encryption, file transfer, chat and many more advantages.
VNC Free Edition 5.0.3 is the latest version (updated in September 2012) of this downloadable software for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
