TweetDeck (recently acquired by Twitter) is a program that allows access to various social networks, and manage accounts, with the advantage of using the same interface, and having all contacts integrated. He specializes in Twitter but also supports Facebook, MySpace, Foursquare and LinkedIn. Its main characteristic is the use of multiple columns in which all the information is distributed, which can be organized and customized to taste.
With respect to Twitter, the application allows to write the messages ( tweets ), having a counter of characters since they are limited in length, to then send them, as well as allows to reply messages and to make retweets. It allows to follow the conversations with the other users, both public and private.
TweetDeck allows you to manage multiple Twitter accounts at once, without having to log out each time to switch accounts. It is possible to see the list of new followers (followers), with the possibility to follow them also to them. It is also possible to create Twitter groups.
When Twitter is accessed via browser, the URLs are in short format, hiding the addresses, but in TweetDeck you can see the real urls before opening the corresponding sites.
It is possible to access Facebook functions, which allow, among other things, view the status of friends, create Facebook groups with some of the contacts and other operations, from the interface of this application.
LinkedIn is a social network in which past and present professional activities, business names, academic activities, etc. are shared. From this application you can also edit the data, invite other people to the network, find people according to profiles, and perform other tasks related to that service.
The application allows you to easily add photos to share on Twitter, Facebook or MySpace, by dragging them from the browser to the application window.
If you use more than one PC or Mac, in addition to other devices such as iPhone or iPad, TweetDeck allows you to synchronize settings and data between them. It also allows you to make backups.
In this latest version is added Deck.ly, a service that allows you to write messages longer than 140 characters. It is also possible to directly access the services of publication of photos and videos: Twitpic, Tweetphoto and Twitvid.
Other new features to be highlighted: possibility of scheduling the delayed publication of tweets for a certain date and time, enabling alerts to receive certain information of interest, more filters to apply during information search or hashtags.
The previous version, 2.0, has been the most important update since it has become an official application, highlighting improvements made to the interface, new themes to choose and apply for the purpose of changing its appearance, and more customization options, such as For example: resizing fonts.
