ATunes is a program that lets you play music, organize your music collection and synchronize your music with portable devices. This is an alternative to iTunes for Linux as it is available for that operating system (Ubuntu and Debian distributions), but it can also be installed on Windows and Mac OS X.
The application automatically adds a complete information of the songs that are stored in the PC, such as the name, group, artist data, discography, song lyrics, covers and much more; But also has other interesting functions, for example a direct access to online music services (Last Fm) to listen to more themes of the selected artist or groups or similar singers. The user can also easily access YouTube videos.
ATunes can be customized, having some themes with varied designs to change the face to the player; Also allows you to choose more than one view of the playlists (in the form of tree or grouped in folders). The interface is acceptable, perhaps not as intuitive as iTunes, but it is a free, lightweight application that does not show advertising.
It supports a wide variety of audio formats, allows you to listen to online radio and podcasts, has a karaoke function, can apply volume normalization, has equalizer, shuffle function, OSD, tag editor, favorite song manager, tool To rip from a CD, and several more functions.
The playlist manager offers the possibility to create, edit, rename and delete lists. You can customize the number of columns (title, genre, album, etc.) that you want to see, and you can sort the list by any of these items. It has an advanced search system that makes it easy to find MP3s that may be scattered on the hard disk or peripheral devices.
ATunes integrates a tool that is responsible for showing usage statistics, either to know which have been the most listened to, or to know that files were never reproduced.
ATunes 3.1.1 is the latest version, available in Spanish. You can check the official help of the program in case you need to know how to install aTunes on Linux (including other distributions like Suse) or Solaris, or to see what other requirements are necessary (for example, you need to have installed Java 6 or higher ).
