RouteConverter is a program that allows you to view, edit and convert data obtained with GPS devices, such as routes, tracks and waypoints.
The application recognizes most GPS formats, supporting the most used, such as Garmin (mps, gdb, wpt), Google Earth (kml, kmz), TomTom (itn), GPX, TXC, and several more formats Which can be consulted in the complete list published on the official website. The latest version adds compatibility with Garmin Fit (.fit).
RouteConverter allows you to open any of the supported formats, interprets them and then displays the data on a map (based on Google Maps or OpenStreetMap). Such data can be edited, for example: it is possible to move points, add intermediate points within a route, delete points, delete routes, and so on. It is also possible to zoom in on the map to zoom in or out of a particular region.
It is possible to complete information related to the different points loaded on the map, such as height, length and latitude, zip code, and other data, from external services. Another interesting function is to plot the variation of height (above sea level) between different points in a path.
Besides editing the obtained data, the application allows to make conversions between different formats. For example, if you open a file with Google Earth's kml extension you can save it (Menu -> File -> Save As) to any of the other formats listed. It can be converted from kml to gpx, from gpx to trx, and so on.
RouteConverter 2.17 is the latest version available, which was updated in October 2015. It works with Windows, Linux and Mac OS, is portable, and is translated into several languages, including Spanish.
