Defraggler is a program that serves as a disk defragmenter. It was created by the authors of CCleaner and Recuva, applications that we have also been in charge of recommending.
Defraggler is a simple and easy-to-use tool that has as a novelty the possibility of defragmenting individual files or folders, and therefore does not require to do so on the entire hard disk or storage unit, as it does with other applications similar to this.
During the defragmentation process, Defraggler reports about the files remaining to be defragmented and the number of sectors among which it remains divided. This information is displayed visually through very intuitive graphs that help to understand how the process is developing. On the map, the free disk sectors are represented in white, while the fragmented sectors are shown in red, and the correct spaces look red.
One thing that takes into account this tool is the defragmentation of disk sectors that are empty, but in turn are separated. The idea is to join these blocks, so that when copying a large file there is available space and there is no need to distribute it in several sectors. This technique helps to dramatically improve performance.
In a previous version has been incorporated into this software a very interesting advanced function that consists of moving certain files towards the end of the hard disk. The goal of this technique is to reduce the access time to the data because in the first sectors of the disk will be stored the files to which it is accessed more frequently, while the heavier files that are opened very occasionally, As it can be the case of the films, they are destined the last sectors.
It is possible to configure this program so that, once the defragmentation process is finished, automatically shut down the PC. You can also associate it with Windows Scheduled Tasks and schedule it to run automatically from time to time. The user can continue working and running any other program without having to interrupt this process, since Defraggler is able to work in the background without consuming too many resources and without affecting its operation.
The last edition adds a function that is responsible for moving certain files or folders to the last sectors of the disk. This can be useful for storing data that is virtually inaccessible, for example, it can be used to move backups and other files to which it will resort occasionally or in cases of emergency.
