Blender is a program to create and model three-dimensional graphics. It is a powerful system to create animations, to which you can apply textures, effects and many more functionalities.
Among the tools needed to create 3D content, this software includes modeling, uv mapping, texturing, rigging, weighting, animation, particle simulation, scripting, rendering, compositing, post production and game creation.
The application supports multiple 3D objects, including polygonal meshes, NURBS surfaces, Bezier curves, B-spline curves and vectors (TrueType, PostScript, OpenType).
This program can be used by artists and creators of professional multimedia applications, since it allows to create all types of 3D visualizations, both static and high quality videos, while its 3D engine allows to create interactive contents.
Blender has a novel and original interface, but requires some dedication and learning through tutorials to use this product. You can consult tutorials on the official site of the project, to learn how to make 3D models.
Blender 2.76 is the latest stable version, released in October 2015, of this free code software, multiplatform (Windows, Linux), and totally free.
In its previous version Blender incorporated addons like "Sampling" or "Ivy Generator", a new engine of rendering called Cycles, and new effects of dynamic painting and simulation of texture of oceans. This new version presents as main novelty to Bmesh, a system of meshes (meshs) with support for polygons of more than 4 faces.
