The presentation of the LG G Flex 2 was one of those secrets to voice that brought us the CES 2015. Indeed, LG's new curved smartphone makes its appearance at the Las Vegas show as an evolution on the original model and its curious and striking curved display, but it does not stay there.
The most representative of the new LG G Flex 2 is inside, where the Korean company has put all the meat in the barbecue integrating a set of leading features that strengthen the company's bet by this terminal: Snapdragon 810, FullHD screen and 2 GB of DDR4 memory to position it as a high-end new batch terminal.
Curved screen? Yes, and improving the present
The feature that most distinguished the first G Flex was undoubtedly its curved screen, which of course remains in this second generation. A 5.5-inch P-OLED panel that improves in resolution and decreases in size, going from 6 inches HD (254 dpi) to the new size. It is still curved and this is its main attraction, something that we liked in our analysis of the original model although we already said that it needed improvement.
Has it evolved in G Flex 2? Undoubtedly offers a much more manageable size , those 5.5 inches that start to be standard in the market and with the aforementioned resolution that, without being the best, is progress.
To this day this LG G Flex 2 is the main bet for curved smartphones , after some Pleistocene attempts you may recall: the Galaxy Nexus and the latest Galaxy Round . It seems that the trend is that, except LG, other manufacturers integrate these curved screens where you can really make them party, such as our wrist with the Gear S Samsung .
Is the screen its great attraction? Yes, but there are more .
A machine that releases the Snapdragon 810
Seductive screen but very interesting features, led by the use of a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 thus becoming the first smartphone to make use of this platform, which a few months ago we referred to as the heart for those who want to be the best smartphones 2015 .
LG is in the first positions of the race to have the most powerful smartphone thanks to the use of Qualcomm's latest SoC. Eight 64-bit cores at 2 GHz., At the rate of four Cortex-A53 and four other Cortex-A57s to provide performance that is estimated to be well above what we knew so far. Next to the CPU, a GPU also renewed in the form of the Adreno 430 which, according to figures proposed by Qualcomm, will be 80% more powerful than the Adreno 330 Snapdragon 800 used in the original G Flex.
And there is another interesting novelty: DDR4L memory, which will be used in all Snapdragon 810 and premiered on the LG G Flex 2 . It is the most conventional amount (none of the 3 GB of, for example, the Galaxy Note 4 ) and logical for the current moment of the market. How will it work? For now is an unknown that we hope to be able to solve as soon as we have the first impressions of this G Flex 2.
With the list of technical specifications of the hand, the LG G Flex 2 is not a simple G3 with curved screen, but it goes a little further. It is true that the resolution is lower, but its hardware makes it a more powerful and efficient piece, with part of its shared possibilities such as functions through gestures or Knock. It will come, of course, with Android 5.0 'Lollipop' factory installed.
LG G Flex 2, price and availability
Finally, the definitive information on the availability of the LG G Flex 2 coincides with what leaked a few days ago: it will be available in late January in Korea, followed by other markets - as yet undetermined - over the next few months. With two colors on sale (silver and red), its price is still unknown.
