Two years ago we began to speak of Kano, a small computer based on a Raspberry Pi surprised us by its versatility and give users an easy way to learn to program and play with this platform quickly.
Improvements come shortly after the project. The screen was announced less than a year ago allowed not rely on external monitors , but in a few months will come another iteration that screen adds a camera, speakers and learning curious element: a table of lights.
Learn more and better
Kano developers indicate that these three elements are a new and fun way that children can learn the basics of electronics and computing . In all there are small manuals initiation not only help mount each accessory -are by pieces- but then allow you to connect it to the screen (and the Raspberry Pi that governs everything) to start using them.
These new accessories are designed to help in this educational task, and the camera allows for example we program a countdown to take the picture or a way to activate the flash (or activate it with a certain color). It is even possible to turn the camera into a motion detector , and everything is adding to that list of possibilities to be explored by the younger.
Table lights is less conventional, and can learn to program more visually with that cause and effect that allow users trying to learn all kinds of things. Not only we can illuminate a number of lights in certain positions: it can be done with flashing effects and intensity, then move on to more ambitious projects such as an electronic marker, for example.
These accessories will gradually come next year . Table lights come in January, the camera in May and speaker in July, but first reach investors who have supported this initiative in Kickstarter. Kano continues to grow, and that's good news.
